Adana Arkeoloji Müzesi
Adana ve bütün Çukurova’da bulunan tarihi eserlerinin sergilendiği Türkiye‘nin en eski 10 müzesi arasındadır. Hitit, Roma ve Erken Bizans Dönemi eserleri bulunaktadır. Cumhuriyetin ilanının hemen sonrasında, ilk olarak çevredeki sütun, sütun başlıkları ve lahitlerin Polis Dairesinde toplanmasıyla 1924’de kurulan Müze, Adana’lı Alyanakzade Halil Kamil Bey’in müdür olarak atanması ve başarılı çalışmaları sonunda, 1928’de Taşköprü’nün başındaki şimdi yıkılmış olan Cafer Paşa Camii’nin Medresesi’nde ziyarete açılmıştır. Müzede 17.071 adet arkeolojik eser ve 26.547 adet sikke bulunmaktadır. Özellikle Tarsus/Gözlükule (1934), İçel/Yumuktepe (1936), Ceyhan/Sirkeli (1938) ve Yüreğir/Misis (1958) höyüğü kazılarınd bulunan, Çukurova’nın ilk çağlarına ait seçkin eserler müzede sergilenmektedir. Müzenin etnografik eser açısından zenginleşmesinde Müze Müdürü Ali Rıza Yalman’ın büyük desteği olmuştur. Müze 5 Ocak 1972 yılında şimdiki binasına geçmiştir.
Adana Arkeoloji Müzesi Müze girişinde Hitit dönemine ait Kapı Arslanı Silifke/Taşucu’ndan ve Uzuncaburç’tan getirilen iki adet Augustus heykeli ile zengin çelenkli lahitler, küpler, mancınık gülleri, yazıtlar, sunaklar ve çeşitli mimari parçalar sergilenmektedir.
Adana Arkeoloji Müzesisi Giriş Kat Taş eserler salonudur. Buradaki Troya savaşlarını yüksek kabartma biçiminde betimleyen mermer lahit Tarsus’tan getirilmiştir. “Akhilleus Lahti” adıyla bilinmektedir. Ayrıca Seyhan Baraj gölünde kalan Augusta antik kentinden getirilen Medusalı Lahit ile Karataş/Magarsus antik kentinden getirilen insan boyutundaki bronz Karataş heykeli bu salonun en çok ilgi gören eserlerindendir.
Adana Arkeoloji Müzesi Kronolojik Eserler Salonu İlk çağlardan Osmanlı dönemine kadar Çukurova’da kurulan uygarlıklara ait eserleri kapsamaktadır. Sergilen eserler arasında; adak eşyaları, kap, kandil, tanrı, tanrıça, insan ve hayvan figürleri de bulunmaktadır. Adana/Tepebağ’da bulunan “Lir Çalan Orpheus Mozaği” de bu salondadır.
Adana Arkeoloji Müzesi Bölgesel Eserler Salonu Adana Müzesi’ne ait olup kazılar ve satın alma yoluyla gelen eserler sergilenmektedir. Zengin formlu cam örnekler, Selçuklu çinileri ve çeşitli uygarlıklara ait mühürler de bu salonda yer almaktadır.
Adana Arkeoloji Müzesi Sikke, Mühür ve Mücevher Eserler Salonu İlk defa paranın görüldüğü Lidya dönemiyle bundan sonraki çeşitli dönemlere ait sikkeler, takılar ve Adana’nın ilçelerinde bulunan defineler bu salonda sergilenmektedir. Hitit İmparatorluk dönemine ait “Dağ Kristali Heykelciliği” çok ilgi görmektedir.
